In the beginning, there was Chaos—an endless void. From Chaos emerged Gaia (Mother Earth) and Uranus (Father Sky). Their union created the Titans, the first generation of divine beings who ruled the cosmos. This is the family tree of divine genealogy, chronicling the reign of titans, the rise of Olympians, and the relationships that shaped mythology.
Gaia and Uranus birthed the twelve Titans, mighty beings who would rule the cosmos. Among them were Oceanus, god of the ocean; Coeus, the deity of intellect; Cronus, the youngest and most powerful; and Rhea, who would become Cronus's consort. These Titans married among themselves, establishing a pattern of divine union that would continue through generations.
Cronus overthrew his father Uranus and married his sister Rhea, ruling the cosmos during the Golden Age. Their union produced the six major Olympian deities: Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Hades, and Hestia. Fearing a prophecy that his children would overthrow him, Cronus swallowed each child at birth—a fate reversed when Zeus, hidden by Rhea, grew to manhood and liberated his siblings.
After the Titanomachy (War of the Titans), Zeus emerged as King of the Gods and married his sister Hera, Queen of Heaven. Their legitimate children include Ares (God of War) , Athena (Goddess of Wisdom, born from Zeus's head without a mother), Hephaestus (God of Fire and Craft), and Eris(Goddess of Discord).
Zeus, legendary for his romantic exploits, fathered numerous children with other goddesses and mortal women:
Poseidon, God of the Sea, married the Nereid Amphitriteand fathered Triton, the messenger of the sea.
Demeter, Goddess of Harvest and Agriculture, married her brother Hades, God of the Underworld. Their daughter Persephone became Queen of the Underworld, spending half the year with her mother and half with her husband—a myth explaining the seasons.
Ares and Aphrodite (Goddess of Love and Beauty) engaged in a legendary affair, producing several children including Eros (God of Love and Desire), Phobos (God of Fear) , Deimos (God of Panic), and Harmonia (Goddess of Harmony).
Among the notable Titans were Oceanus and Tethys, whose children were the Oceanids—sea nymphs of divine beauty. Coeus and Phoebe gave birth to Leto, mother of Apollo and Artemis.
Iapetus, another Titan, fathered Prometheus (the Titan who stole fire for humanity), Epimetheus (hindsight), Atlas (condemned to hold the sky), and Menoetius. Their descendants and deeds shaped human civilization and divine punishment.
